Bloating from BBQs? We’ve Been There.

Hey, it’s Jen—and welcome back to Take Your Gummies.

Today’s episode is dedicated to the backyard BBQ.
A magical place filled with delicious chaos, questionable grill decisions, and at least one person wearing flip-flops who definitely shouldn’t be that close to open flames.

Think about it:
There's potato salad, and burgers stacked like architectural structures. There are chips in three different bowls, even though they all taste the same. There's rosé, probably too much rosé. There's someone's uncle aggressively over-seasoning chicken, and someone's cousin bringing that dessert you swear you won’t eat half of… and then absolutely do.

There’s laughter. There’s smoke. There’s sun. And afterward?

There’s bloat.
So. Much. Bloat.

Let me say this clearly and with love: You’re not doing anything wrong. You’re not “bad” for indulging. You’re not supposed to leave a BBQ feeling dainty and weightless like a fairy princess floating on a lily pad. You’re human. Humans puff. Especially around ribs and rosé.

Your stomach isn’t betraying you—it’s just reacting to a combination of foods and vibes that would make anyone’s digestive system throw a tiny tantrum. Because let’s be honest: BBQ food is a lot in the best and worst ways. It’s salty. It’s rich. It’s smoky. It’s dairy-heavy. It’s carb-forward. It’s often eaten standing up while talking, laughing, and inhaling air with every bite.

But the bloat doesn’t have to ruin your night or your next day.
Your gut can feel better without shame, guilt, or that dramatic “I’m starting a detox Monday” energy none of us ever stick to.

So let’s talk recovery—real recovery, not influencer detox recovery.
Gentle, doable, kind-to-your-body recovery.

Start with hydration—like your life depends on it.
Salt + alcohol + sun is a combination scientifically designed to humble you. Your body gets dehydrated way faster than you think, and dehydration slows digestion, increases puffiness, and makes everything feel heavier. So drink water before you even start overthinking how your stomach feels.

Next—movement.
Not punishment.
Not “I need to burn off the BBQ.”
Just movement that wakes your body up. Your gut thrives on motion. Go for a walk. Stretch. Dance while cleaning up. Put on music and sway around your kitchen like a soft summer witch. Anything that gets things moving gently counts.

Then—fiber the next day.
Fruit. Veggies. Whole grains.
Give your digestive system something to work with. After a BBQ, your body doesn’t need restriction—it needs support. Fiber helps everything move along so you don’t feel like you’re carrying yesterday around with you.

And now—the star of my “I went too hard at the BBQ” ritual: Debloat Gummies.

Two gummies, twenty minutes after a meal. Watermelon-apple flavor, very summer-coded, very “I’m taking care of myself in a cute effortless way.” Inside them? ACV, green tea, buchu leaf, dandelion, juniper berry—all cheering on your gut like a tiny supportive cheer squad.

They don’t fix everything instantly—they just take the edge off that “who sabotaged my digestive system?” vibe.

And honestly, they’re the reason I no longer fear the post-BBQ belly. They help me go from “I am a balloon” to “I am a human again” quicker than anything else I’ve tried. But more importantly, they let me enjoy the food without spiraling after.

And finally—the most important part:

Be kind to your body.

BBQs are about community, joy, connection—not macros.

They’re about being with people you love or at least tolerate while eating foods that trigger nostalgia, happiness, and sometimes mild inflammation.

Support your gut.

Don’t punish it.

Love your body even when it’s bloated.

Especially when it’s bloated.

So eat the ribs.

Sip the rosé.
Laugh with your whole chest.
Tell the story you’ve told ten times already.
Let the meal be fun, not stressful.
And then recover with love—and gummies.

Take your gummies. Take a walk. Take the pressure off.

See you next Monday.
